Sacroiliac Joint Pain (SI Joint)
Sacroiliac (SI) joint dysfunction is a condition that causes pain in the lower back and pelvis due to issues with the sacroiliac joints, which connect the sacrum at the base of the spine to the pelvic bones. These joints play a crucial role in supporting and transferring weight between the upper body and the legs. When the SI joints become unstable or restricted, they can cause pain, limited mobility, and discomfort. Factors like trauma, pregnancy, arthritis, or even structural abnormalities can lead to SI joint dysfunction. Additionally, conditions such as scoliosis, leg length discrepancies, or certain inflammatory disorders can increase the risk
At Built to Move Physical Therapy, our skilled therapists specialize in assessing the sacrum’s position and using manual techniques to correct misalignments. We also provide education on self-correction and teach specific exercises to stabilize the sacrum and prevent re-injury. In some cases, we may recommend a special support belt to enhance stability.
If you’re experiencing sacral pain or discomfort, contact Built to Move today to learn how physical therapy can help restore your mobility and reduce pain.
We get to the root cause by taking a full body approach when evaluating your symptoms.
We take a comprehensive approach to evaluate your entire body, no matter your diagnosis. Dr. Caitlin doesn’t just address the symptoms of your discomfort—she investigates how it happened, factors that contributed to your condition, and develop strategies to prevent it from recurring.
We assess your strength, endurance, flexibility, tissue health, and coordination to create a personalized recovery plan tailored to your needs. While patients may share similar conditions, each person's path to healing is unique.
You may experience symptoms like:
Pain in the lower back, buttocks, or thighs.
Pain that worsens with activities like walking, climbing stairs, or standing.
Discomfort during prolonged sitting or transitioning from sitting to standing.
Radiating pain down the leg, sometimes mimicking sciatica.
