Pelvic Girdle Pain

Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) is a term used to describe pain or discomfort in the pelvic region, specifically around the joints that connect the pelvis to the spine. This condition often affects the sacroiliac joints (where the lower spine meets the pelvis), the pubic symphysis (where the left and right sides of the pelvis meet), or the hip joints.

PGP can occur during pregnancy due to the body's natural changes, including hormonal shifts that relax the ligaments around the pelvis to prepare for childbirth. However, it can also affect people who are not pregnant, often as a result of injury, overuse, or mechanical stress on the pelvis.

Symptoms of PGP can include pain in the lower back, hips, groin, or thighs. The pain may worsen with activities like walking, standing for long periods, climbing stairs, or shifting weight from one leg to the other. In some cases, the pain may feel sharp or stabbing, while in others, it may be a dull, aching sensation.
